Curious, by nature.
I like understanding how things work—and making things that help me find out.
I'm Devon Akins. I make software, write, and explore fictional worlds.
Science, mathematics, psychology, and teaching all interest me because they give us different ways to get closer to a question. Sometimes that leads to a tool. Sometimes it leads to a story, a sketch, or a better explanation.
I like the space between understanding something and making it tangible. A small experiment can teach me more than a much bigger plan.
What matters in the work.
Look closely. Understand what is already there before trying to replace it.
Make it useful. Build something small enough to try, then check what actually happens.
Tell the truth about it. Keep experiments, finished work, and future ideas distinct.
Leave room for life. Work should fit alongside being present at home.
